Wife of former Nepal PM succumbs to injuries after protesters set house on fire

Wife of former Nepal Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, hours after anti-government protesters set their house on fire in Kathmandu, News18 has reported citing local media.

According to local media, Khanal's wife was rushed to the hospital with severe burn injuries on multiple parts of her body.

Earlier, hundreds of protesters, mostly youth, surrounded the house of the former Nepal PM and set it on fire.

Nepal is witnessing angry demonstrations due to the government's ban on social media and alleged corruption. Earlier, KP Oli resigned as the prime minister in the face of the demonstration.

Protesters targeted the houses of several top Nepal politicians, setting many afire, as anger gripped the nation over severe wealth disparity in the Himalayan country.
