Temple spokesperson Radhika Shukla said, "The Vice President and the First Lady are coming for darshan at Akshardham Temple. She has Indian roots. They are coming here directly from the airport. They will first have darshan of the replica of Lord Swaminarayan, and then they will see the architecture of the temple."

JD Vance and his family arrived at Delhi’s Palam airbase around 9:30 am, where they were warmly welcomed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and honored with a ceremonial guard of welcome.

JD Vance is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this evening during his first official visit to India as Vice President. His trip also includes planned visits to Agra and Jaipur in the next few days.

The Vance family is also expected to visit a shopping complex that promotes Indian handicrafts before heading to their next engagements.

Security has been ramped up across the national capital ahead of the high-profile visit, with the Delhi Police issuing detailed traffic advisories. The effects spilled over into nearby Noida, where heavy traffic and long queues of vehicles were seen on Monday morning due to related restrictions.
