The Enforcement Directorate may add Priti Choksi’s name in its supplementary chargesheet as they have found evidence pointing at her involvement in the multi-crore bank fraud case.

The May 25 order undersigned by Dominican minister Rayburn Blackmoore further stated that: “You (Mehul Choksi) are, therefore, not permitted to enter the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Chief of Police has been instructed to take all the necessary actions to have you repatriated.”

Mehul Choksi has named Gurmit Singh, Narendar Singh, Jabarica and other unidentified persons for his alleged abduction.

Mehul Choksi had approached the high court after the magistrate rejected his bail petition.

Fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi has been in Dominican judicial custody since May 24 and has been charged with entering the country illegally.

Mehul Choksi mysteriously went missing on May 23 from Antigua and Barbuda where he has been staying since 2018 as a citizen.

Browne said that Choksi's lawyers gave the names of people involved in the alleged abduction to the police commissioner in a complaint, the Antigua News Room reported.

Mehul Choksi left India in January 2018, days before his name propped up among the main accused in a loan scam which defrauded the state-run Punjab National Bank (PNB) to the tune of Rs 13,500 crore.

Eastern Caribbean states have provided a safe haven for criminals since the time of the pirate forts of the 1700s. The Mehul Choksi case is an opportunity for India to lead an international effort to end this.

On Thursday, the Dominica High Court adjourned the hearing on a habeas corpus petition filed by Mehul Choksi's lawyers.

The Qatar Executive flight A7CEE had left the Delhi International Airport at 3.44 am on May 28 carrying necessary documents related to cases against Choksi. It had travelled to Marigot in Dominica via Madrid as Choksi's lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition before the Dominica High Court.

Mehul Choksi, after his "mysterious" disappearance from Antigua on May 23, was detained by the Dominican authorities on May 25. Since then, the Antiguan government has urged the neighbouring Caribbean nation to "directly extradite" him to India.

Mehul Choksi had mysteriously gone missing on May 23 from Antigua and Barbuda where he was staying since 2018 as a citizen. He was detained in the neighbouring island country Dominica for illegal entry after a possible romantic escapade with his rumoured girlfriend.

"He (Choksi) is currently in the custody of Dominica where some legal proceedings are underway. We will continue to ensure that he is brought back to India," MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told reporters at an online press briefing.

Mehul Choksi's lawyers have alleged that he was kidnapped from Jolly Harbour in Antigua and brought to Dominica on a boat, about 100 nautical miles away.

Mehul Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi are wanted for allegedly siphoning Rs 13,500 crore of public money from the state-run Punjab National Bank (PNB) using letters of undertaking.

Chetan Choksi himself arrived in Dominica on May 29 in a private jet to help secure his cousin Mehul Choksi's release from Dominican custody, a local news report suggested.

Mehul Choksi, accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, is a citizen of Antigua. He fled from India to Antigua in 2018 and has been living there since.

The report noted that India is seeking to present that at present the court only has Choksi’s point of view and they be made party to the case since he is an Indian citizen and on the run for money laundering and cheating.

India has hired a Bombardier Global 5000 jet belonging to Qatar Airways to bring back fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi from the Caribbean nation.
