The Delhi Police Special Cell’s Counter Intelligence unit has arrested a woman accused of managing a drug syndicate linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The accused, Khusnuma Ansari, also known as Neha, was taken into custody along with her longtime partner Bobby Kabutar and two others.
Police said Neha played an active role in handling the gang’s drug distribution network. Bobby Kabutar, whose real name is Mahfooz, is described as a key gunman and weapons supplier for the gang. Investigators claim he acted as an important link for the Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba gangs.
Beauty parlour ‘front’ for drug trade
To the public, Neha ran a beauty parlour in Northeast Delhi. However, police claim the business was only a front to hide the gang’s illegal activities. They allege she managed the drug distribution network while maintaining a normal public image. Neha and Bobby had allegedly been associated for seven years.
During their arrest near the Mahipalpur flyover, police recovered a significant quantity of drugs. Investigators have referred to her as “Madam Zeher” because of her alleged role in the narcotics trade.
Role of Bobby Kabutar in Bishnoi gang
According to the police, Bobby allegedly procured high-end firearms from Salim Pistol, who is believed to be one of India’s biggest illegal arms dealers with suspected links to Pakistan’s ISI. These weapons were allegedly used in several major crimes across the country.
Officials claim that the arms supplied by the network were used in the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, the firing outside actress Disha Patani’s residence, the murder of Nadir Shah in Delhi, and the Seelampur double murders.
Police have also revealed new details about the Moosewala case. Bobby Kabutar allegedly carried out the initial reconnaissance before the murder. He is believed to have tracked the singer’s movements and routes and shared the information with the shooters.
He was allegedly in close contact with another gangster, Shahrukh, during the planning of the attack. For months, Bobby is said to have evaded arrest by using fake identities and frequently changing his location.
The case also highlights a growing trend of women taking operational roles within the Bishnoi gang. Neha is the third "Lady Don" linked to the syndicate to be arrested recently, following Deepa and Zoya Khan (the wife of gangster Hashim Baba).
