YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has announced in a blog that AI will make things easier for creators and viewers and YouTube is getting a host of AI upgrades. The platform has used AI for years to recommend videos, generate captions, and remove harmful content. Now, YouTube is adding even more AI tools to help creators and improve the user experience.
Last year, YouTube launched Dream Screen and Dream Track. These AI tools create video backgrounds, images, and music for Shorts. Soon, YouTube will add Veo 2 to Dream Screen to make it even better.
Mohan revealed in a blog post that YouTube is developing tools to suggest video ideas, create titles, and design thumbnails. AI is also helping videos reach more people. Right now, 40% of watch time for dubbed videos comes from viewers choosing another language. YouTube launched auto dubbing last year, and soon, all YouTube Partner Program creators will have access to it. More languages will be added over time.
YouTube is also working to protect creators from AI misuse. A new pilot program is testing AI detection tools with key figures. Their feedback will help improve these tools and give users more control over AI-generated content.
YouTube is also focusing on keeping young viewers safe. It has invested in YouTube Kids and supervised accounts. It is also improving educational content. Next year, YouTube will use machine learning to estimate users' ages. This will help ensure kids see age-appropriate content.
Mohan says YouTube will continue using AI responsibly to make the platform better for everyone.
