OTT hack: This trick can help you save up to 60% every month on OTT subscriptions, here's how

Streaming entertainment has become the go-to way for Indian households to watch movies, shows, and live sports. But if you’ve felt the pinch of rising OTT prices in 2025, you’re not alone. Subscribing to just five or six of the most popular apps at their top tiers can easily cost Rs 13,000–Rs 15,000 per year, or over Rs 1,200 every month—and that’s before you even pay for internet.

So how do smart viewers slash those costs by up to 60% without compromising on 4K quality, multiple screens, or family sharing? The answer lies in an often-overlooked “hack”: broadband OTT bundles.

The trick: get OTT bundled with broadband connection

Instead of paying each platform separately, telecom and broadband giants like Jio, Airtel, and Tata Play now bundle premium OTT subscriptions directly into their fiber plans. These bundles often include 10–20+ streaming apps, plus high-speed Wi-Fi and even live TV channels—all for less than the price of one Netflix Premium subscription.

Here’s what the cheapest plans (as of August 2025) look like:

JioFiber / Jio AirFiber (₹599/month)
• 30 Mbps speed, 3.3TB data
• 11 OTT apps included (Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV, Zee5, Lionsgate Play, ALTBalaji, etc.)
• 800+ TV channels

Airtel Xstream Fiber (₹599/month)
• 30 Mbps speed, unlimited data
• 22+ OTT apps included via Xstream app (ZEE5, Hotstar, SonyLIV, Hoichoi, Eros Now, and more)
• 350+ HD channels + extras like Google One cloud

Tata Play Fiber (₹850–₹900/month)
• 100 Mbps speed, unlimited data
• 4–6 OTT apps (customizable picks such as Netflix, Prime, Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV)
• 200+ TV channels

How it works

When you sign up for one of these broadband plans, the provider gives you access to OTT subscriptions as part of the package. These apps are either logged in through your broadband provider’s app (like Airtel Xstream) or directly redeemed via subscription codes.

For households, this means:
• One monthly bill covers Wi-Fi, OTT apps, and often TV
• Families can stream on multiple devices simultaneously
• No need to keep track of separate logins, renewals, or hidden costs

What you should know

While the savings are real, there are a few caveats: 1. Netflix and Amazon Prime aren’t always included in the cheapest bundles. For example, Jio and Airtel offer Hotstar, SonyLIV, and Zee5 at ₹599, but Netflix usually comes only in higher-tier plans.
2. App access may vary by region and provider. Always check the latest bundle list, as operators update OTT partnerships frequently.
3. Lower speeds on entry-level plans. ₹599 plans usually cap at 30 Mbps—fine for households with 1–3 users, but bigger families may need faster (and costlier) plans.
4. Account access differs. Some OTTs can be shared like a normal subscription, while others may require you to stream via the provider’s app.

Still worth it, but how?

Even with these catches, the math makes sense. Paying individually for Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar, Zee5, and SonyLIV alone costs ₹1,200+ per month. A ₹599 Jio or Airtel bundle delivers 10–22 OTT apps plus broadband and TV for half that price.

That’s savings of ₹6,000–₹10,000 every year for a typical household—without sacrificing entertainment variety. Add in the convenience of a single bill and hassle-free renewals, and it’s clear why OTT bundles have become the go-to choice for Indian families in 2025.

Bottom line

If you’re tired of rising subscription costs, don’t cancel your favorite OTTs—bundle them instead. By switching to JioFiber, Airtel Xstream, or Tata Play’s OTT broadband plans, you can cut your streaming expenses by nearly 60%, enjoy high-speed Wi-Fi, and keep the whole family entertained on every screen.

Before you pay for another standalone plan, check your local fiber providers—you might just unlock the cheapest way to binge-watch in 2025
