New Gemini assistant, Pulse detection and other AI features Google unveiled for Pixel devices

Google announced its next-generation smartphones – Pixel 9 series – at the Made by Google 2024 event. Along with this, Google also announced a range of new AI features that will be available across the Pixel 9 series as well as some of those features will also make the cut to the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Watch 3.

Pixel 9 Series: AI-powered enhancements

The Pixel 9 series, including Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, features an updated and improved Gemini AI assistant. Users can access Gemini by pressing the power button, enabling various tasks such as handling complex queries and assisting with weather reports.

Google has also updated Gemini with support for text, images and voice inputs.

New AI features for Pixel 9 series camera

Along with the new Gemini assistant, Google has also added several new AI features to the Pixel 9 series camera. This includes features like Add Me, Magic Editor and Auto Frame.

The Add Me feature is a new addition to the suite of AI features that Google offers. This allows users to include themselves in a group photo after the photo has been captured.

The Magic Editor and Auto Frame features allow users to edit and enhance images. Apart from this, the new Pixel Studio app enables image generation using on-device and cloud-based AI models.

AI features in Pixel Watch 3

Google has also extended the AI features to Pixel Watch 3. The features are mainly aimed at health and fitness to help users track their health and fitness. This includes automatic Bedtime Mode activation and advanced heart rate monitoring. Google has also added a Loss of Pulse Detection feature that uses AI algorithms to detect health emergencies. The feature also enables automatic emergency services when needed.

Other than these, the Watch 3 also comes with Call Assist which screens spam calls and holds calls for users right from the watch.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 AI features

Pixel Buds 2 Pro also comes with some AI features powered by Tensor A1 chipset. The Tensor chip in Pixel Buds Pro 2 enables AI-powered Active Noise Cancellation, adapting to user’s environment for improved noise reduction. Users can also access Gemini assistant hands-free with the Buds Pro 2.
