Smart glasses are about to get a sporty upgrade. Meta is teaming up with Oakley, and all signs point to a big reveal on June 20. A new Instagram handle, @oakleymeta, recently shared a teaser video announcing the date, and it’s not just a random post—Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Instagram’s official account, and Oakley all reposted it, making it very clear: something exciting is coming.
The teaser ends with the Oakley and Meta logos side by side, much like the branding used for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Even Meta’s online store has joined in, featuring a banner that reads, “The next evolution arrives June 20.” There's also an option to sign up for updates, suggesting we’re just days away from an official launch.
If earlier reports are anything to go by, these upcoming smart glasses may be built on Oakley’s Sphaera design and could feature a camera placed at the center of the frame—different from the Ray-Ban version, where the camera sits on the side. The focus this time appears to be on athletes, especially cyclists, hinting that Meta and Oakley may be looking to compete with GoPro in the action sports space.
Oakley and Ray-Ban both belong to the same parent company, EssilorLuxottica, so a collaboration like this was always on the cards. But it’s the timing, the design hints, and the sporty target audience that make this launch especially interesting.
All eyes are now on June 20. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a cyclist, or just someone who loves cool gadgets, this one’s worth watching.
