Google has announced the latest feature drop for Workspace, bringing the power of Gemini to enhance collaboration within Google Meet. The update introduces several intelligent features designed to streamline meetings and improve productivity, says Google.
A key highlight is the evolution of the "Take notes for me" feature. Meeting notes generated by Gemini will now include a "Suggested next steps" section, automatically identifying and capturing follow-up action items discussed during the meeting.“You can review and edit these as needed, or assign the task to someone else in your team. This latest note-taking enhancement helps ensure that important items aren’t missed and keeps things moving forward after the meeting,” said Google.
Furthermore, the integration between meeting notes and transcripts has been strengthened. When meeting transcripts are enabled, the Gemini-generated notes will now provide direct links to the corresponding sections within the transcript. This allows users to quickly access the detailed context and verbatim quotes related to specific points in the notes, facilitating a deeper understanding of the discussion. “The notes will link to the exact part of the transcript where items were discussed — including verbatim quotes — for more context,” said Google.
Another convenient addition is the ability for users to scroll through meeting captions in real-time. This feature addresses situations where attendees might have missed a portion of the conversation or need to review what was said earlier. By allowing users to easily revisit past captions, Google aims to improve accessibility and ensure everyone stays informed during the meeting.
