Gears of War: Reloaded is the upcoming remastered version of 2006’s original Gears of War game with enhanced and new features. The gameplay trailer of "Gears of War: Reloaded" was recently unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Here are 10 things you need to know about the upcoming remaster of the iconic third-person shooter that kicked off the Gears franchise.

Gears of War: Reloaded is an action third-person shooter and a remaster of the original "Gears of War" game.

Gears of War Reloaded: Developer
Gears of War: Reloaded is developed by Canadian video game studio "The Coalition" in partnership with Sumo Digital and Disbelief. Formerly known as ‘Black Tusk Studios’,  The Coalition is now a part of Xbox Game Studios.

Gears of War Reloaded: Extra content
Besides the Gears of War (2006) core campaign, Gears of War: Reloaded comes with all the post-launch DLC and extra content of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and that includes the “bonus campaign act, multiplayer maps, plus characters and cosmetics, at no additional cost.”

Gears of War Reloaded: Graphics, gameplay, sound and other features
Optimised for the current-gen consoles and PC, Gears of War: Reloaded features 4K resolution support and 60FPS support in the core campaign and 120FPS in multiplayer. As per The Coalition, the action shooter will have “lightning-fast load times, 4K assets plus remastered textures, lighting, shadows and reflections, HDR and Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.”

Gears of War: Reloaded also comes with PC-first features like “ultrawide support, a benchmark mode, variable refresh rate, mouse and keyboard support, FSR3.1 and DLSS3.5 Super Resolution support as well as controller remapping.”

Gears of War Reloaded: New control layout
The developers have incorporated a “modern, streamlined control layout” for new players, “while veterans can relive the classic feel they love.”

Gears of War Reloaded: Co-op and multiplayer
For the main campaign, Gears of War: Reloaded will support two-player split-screen and online co-op. It also comes with online Versus multiplayer as well with support for up to eight players.

Gears of War Reloaded: Cross-play and cross-progression support
Gears of War: Reloaded will support cross-play across all platforms. It also supports cross-progression, which means you can switch platforms and carry your campaign saves and multiplayer progress to a new device. However, cross progression requires you to sign in with your Microsoft Account.

Gears of War Reloaded: Pre-orders
You can now pre-order Gears of War: Reloaded across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.

Gears of War Reloaded: Price
In India, Gears of War: Reloaded is priced at Rs 2,499. Internationally, the game retails at $39.99.

Gears of War Reloaded: Platforms and release date
Gears of War: Reloaded will come to PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025. That makes it the first multi-platform Gears franchise game. The enhanced third-person shooter will also be made available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
