Elon Musk has announced that his Grok AI chatbot's new Imagine video and image generation feature is now available for free for all users in the United States. This means that users in the region now try out xAI’s controversial image and video generation tool, even if they are not subscribed to SuperGrok or Premium Plus plans on X. This new feature is currently in early beta stage and is available only on the Grok iOS and Android applications.
In a Spaces discussion with advertisers on X, Musk announced that the Grok Imagine tool for turning images into short videos is available for free for everyone. With the latest announcement, xAI aims to take on rival AI video generation models, such as OpenAI’s Sora model and Google’s Veo 3.
How to use Grok Imagine?Grok Imagine can create AI images and 6-second video clips using text prompts or images. To begin, one needs to install the Grok app on their smartphone. Android users need to install it from the Google Play Store, and iOS users can use the Apple App Store to download the app. Once installed and signed into the Grok app, users can tap on the Imagine tab at the top right corner and enter a text prompt describing the scene, style, or action they want in the desired image.
The tool will then generate the desired image. After an image is generated, Grok Imagine users can also use the ‘Make video option to create short videos in four different modes, which are: Normal, Fun, Custom, or the more audacious Spicy mode. However, the alleged Spicy mode has garnered a lot of negative reception for allowing users to create NSFW videos.
