Pune-based IT professional union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has asked the Ministry of Labour & Employment to take action against IT company DXC Technology for delaying the onboarding of over 4,800 campus recruits.

“These delays, lasting more than two years, have caused serious problems for these new employees,” Harpreet Singh Saluja, president, NITES said in a statement.

Delay in onboarding of campus recruits in IT companies has been frequent in recent times, as a result of tepid demand amid an uncertain macroeconomic environment in key markets of these companies.

The union said many of these employees had turned down other job offers because they believed in DXC Technology's promises. Currently, these candidates are struggling financially and are unsure about their future because they haven't started working yet, the union said.

Moneycontrol has reached out to DXC Technologies and the story will be updated as and when the company responds.

“We have asked the Ministry to act quickly to protect them and make sure they are not unfairly punished because of DXC Technology's delays,” the union said.

Earlier this month, NITES filed a request to the Ministry to investigate IT major Infosys for “repeatedly delaying the onboarding of over 2,000 campus recruits”.

NITES had claimed that these delays have persisted for over two years, causing hardship to the affected employees.

In July 2023, the union filed a complaint with the Labour Ministry highlighting the “delayed onboarding of over 200 lateral recruits by TCS".

Later, the complaint was transferred to the Maharashtra government.
