Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is confirmed to launch globally on October 25, 2024 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Battle.net, Microsoft Store and Steam). It will also be made available on Xbox Game Pass.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is a first-person shooter on which multiple game studios have teamed up for development. While Treyarch leads game development, in collaboration with Raven Software, other game studios have also been roped in. These include Activision Central Design, Activision Central Technology, Activision QA, Activision Shanghai, Beenox, Demonware, High Moon Studios, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games.

As per Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a “dynamic and intense” spy action thriller set in the early 1990s, a period signifying the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. After Perestroika, the Soviet Union disintegrated into multiple countries and the United States benefitted from it, rising to become the single global superpower.
During this time of political upheavel, the story of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 sees the protagonists thrust “into a strange and clandestine conspiracy where a shadowy force has infiltrated the U.S. government.”
As per Activision, the Black Ops 6 Campaign story will have elements of “ intrigue, distrust, and mind-bending psychological revelations”.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Campaign: Frank Woods and his protégé Troy Marshall
In Call of Duty Black Ops 6, you’ll see new and returning characters, with veteran Frank Woods acting as the connecting link in the game’s story.
As per Call of Duty devs, players will see a different side of Frank Woods in Black Ops 6 who was earlier wounded by Raul Menendez. Following his traumatic injury, Woods has been taken off the field and given a new role within the CIA.
Woods’ has mentored Troy Marshall whom Activision describes as “a methodical leader, driven by a strong moral compass”. Both share the traits of single-minded focus and stubborn nature that borders on recklessness
New Black Ops 6 character: Jane Harrow
CIA handler Jane Harrow is a new character to the Black Ops games. She is the overseer of both Frank Woods and Troy Marshall in the CIA. The developers have modeled Jane Harrow as “a born leader, who is fearless and brilliant”.
Frank Woods and Troy Marshall: Forced to go rogue
After an operation that does not end well, Frank Woods and Troy Marshall are suspended. The trouble for them has just begun and both are ultimately forced to go rogue. Realising that they have to trust each other and be secretive about their plans in order to find the actual threat, they decide to build their own team of rogue agents.
New Black Ops 6 characters: Felix Neumann and Sevati Dumas
Woods and Marshall recruit two new Black Ops characters: Felix Neumann and Sevati Dumas. Felix Neumann is a “technical genius” while Sevati Dumas is a “mysterious assassin”.
Russell Adler returns
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will also see the return of the infamous wild card Russell Adler. The new team of rogue agents has to be careful about him, despite him being a former ally.
