Destiny developer Bungie has delayed its upcoming first-person extraction shooter Marathon indefinitely, with no new release date or window. Marathon was scheduled for a September 23 release, but sadly, that’s not going to happen. However, the Prague-based developer has promised an update on Marathon this Fall, along with a new release date.
According to Bungie, user feedback from the Alpha playtest is the reason Marathon has been delayed, and the developers now need more time to work on and test new game features.
“Through every comment and real-time conversation on social media and Discord, your voice has been strong and clear. We've taken this to heart, and we know we need more time to craft Marathon into the game that truly reflects your passion. After much discussion within our Dev team, we’ve made the decision to delay the September 23rd release.”, Bungie said in a website post.
The Czech developer added that over the next few months, it will “continue closed testing (including participants from the Alpha) to deploy gameplay updates and test new features as they come online.”
