Apple is reportedly planning some major new artificial intelligence (AI) based updates for the iPhone with the iOS 18 update. The iOS 18 update is expected to come with new AI capabilities. Now, according to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is set to introduce the ability to create custom emojis with this update.

iOS 18 to come with AI-powered emoji customisation: All the details

As per a new report, published in Bloomberg by Mark Gurman, the upcoming iOS 18 update will bring generative AI to emojis. While the introduction of custom emojis is not a big deal, this feature will give a boost to the user experience. Apple is known to bring new emojis with every incremental iOS update.

However, this new tool is expected to replicate the custom emotions of humans with the help of AI. The report did not mention if there would be any guidelines or custom settings to stop people from abusing the feature by creating unwanted or obscene emojis.

In addition to the emoji creation tool, iOS 18 is also set to introduce several other AI features across different applications, including Photos, Notes, and notifications as well. These updates aim to enhance users’ experience.

Additionally, users will be able to change app icon colours such, with different colour profiles for different apps. This will allow users to have more freedom to place apps anywhere on the home screen grid, similar to widgets or shortcuts in iOS. This will also allow users to move away from the current fixed-aligned grid of iOS home screen.
