Amazfit Active 2 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch FE: Which is the better smartwatch?

How the two affordable smartwatches compare.

April 22, 2025 / 20:07 IST

Amazfit has launched its latest smartwatch, the Active 2, in India, which is positioned as a feature-packed wearable at a budget price tag. Last year, Samsung also introduced its first ‘Fan Edition’ smartwatch, which runs on Google’s app-rich Wear OS platform, and is launched at a similar budget-friendly price.

The former is the newer of the two, with the Galaxy Watch FE sharing a lot of similarities with the company’s older watches. Meanwhile, the Active 2 is designed for newer users with lots of health features, and comes with a more modern design. So, you might be confused about which one you should choose? Let’s take a look at our detailed comparison of the Amazfit Active 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE.

 Design and display

Like the Galaxy Watch 4, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE comes with a circular 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a single 40mm size option. In contrast, the Amazfit Active 2 has a bigger 1.32-inch AMOLED round display. Both smartwatches use Sapphire glass protection to protect against daily wear and tear or scratches. However, the standard version of the Active 2 comes with a normal 2.5D tempered glass with anti-fingerprint coating.

The Watch FE is available in multiple colours and strap options and offers MIL-STD-810H protection. In contrast, the Active 2 only comes in two strap options, which are black and a red sports silicone strap. Both watches also have a premium aluminium frame for added durability and weigh under 30 grams.

Software

The Amazfit Active 2 runs on the company’s native Zepp OS 4, which offers multiple health features, including SpO2 monitoring, heart rate tracking, stress monitoring, and others. It also has Zepp Flow AI voice control, allowing users to adjust settings or access the calendar by voice. The watch is also compatible with iOS-based devices.

However, the Galaxy Watch FE runs on Google’s native Wear OS 5, and it can install a wide range of third-party apps through both the Google Play Store and Galaxy Store. It also supports NFC-based payments and is compatible with Samsung Wallet. As for voice chat, the watch supports Google Assistant, and with the LTE variant, you can even use it to make calls or send quick messages.

 Battery

The Galaxy Watch FE has the same 247mAh battery, which can last a full day of heavy usage, with GPS and calling turned on. The backup can be even extended if a user opts to turn off the always-on-display mode. Samsung has bundled a charging pad inside the box, and the Watch FE also supports wireless charging.

On the other hand, the Amazfit Active 2 claims to offer up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge with its 270mAh battery, and can last for up to five days under heavy usage. However, it lacks wireless charging support. Both smartwatches can fully top up in less than two hours.

 Price

The Amazfit Active 2 is priced at Rs 9,999 for the Standard version in India and Rs 11,999 for the Premium version. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE has a starting price of Rs 10,999 in India.

The Amazfit Active 2 is an excellent budget smartwatch for users who don’t want to charge their wearables as frequently as their smartphones. It also offers multiple health features, and the Zepp Coach feature even offers personalised training plans. Moreover, the watch is even compatible with iPhones.
