The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on May 2 began supplying 3 lakh litres of treated zero bacterial water to tech giant Wipro daily.
BWSSB chairman Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar said, "Forty IT parks and companies/PSUs including Adobe, RMZ Eco World and HAL have submitted requests to the board for the supply of treated water. They mainly require treated water for cleaning purposes and air conditioning. From the sewage treatment plants at Agara, 3 lakh liters of water will be supplied to Wipro daily by tanker lorries."

"With the increasing demand for treated water, we can now save and redistribute Cauvery river water by reducing pressure on groundwater. BWSSB is ready to meet the water needs of IT companies."
He further said BWSSB has implemented indigenous technology in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to generate zero bacterial treated water in three sewage treatment plants (Agara, KC Valley, and Bellandur).
"We currently operate 34 sewage water treatment plants, which generates 1200 MLD of treated water. Our efforts to supply treated water have received positive responses from IT companies," he said.
BWSSB engineers, in collaboration with IISc, have developed an indigenous technology. "With this technology, the board has the capacity to produce one crore litres of zero bacteria treated water daily."
