U Mumba gear up for PKL 11 with 40-day intensive training camp in Ahmedabad

With an aim to build on the formidable squad for Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11, U Mumba has initiated an intensive 40-day training camp at the Wyndham Hotel and Club O7 in Ahmedabad. The camp will bring together all the 21-member of the squad to ensure players reach peak fitness and performance level for the upcoming season. The squad will be closely monitored by head coach Gholamreza Mazandarani and assistant coach Anil Chaprana.

U Mumba begin their campaign against Dabang Delhi on October 18 in Hyderabad and the unit aims to leave no stones unturned ahead of the season. The camp will focus on strengthening the tactical understanding of their revamped defense, leveraging the strong bond between Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal, and the experience of U Mumba mainstay Rinku to counter opposition raiders.

Coaches along with support staff also aim to build the bonding among players, ensuring cohesive teamwork to enhance the team’s performance for the brand new edition.

“I'm excited to work with this new squad. We've strengthened the areas where we needed improvement. While last season started well, it didn't end as we hoped. I understand what we need to work on, and that's our focus moving forward. I'm pleased with the training facilities and the support staff. I'm confident we'll give our very best to have a strong pre-season and a successful season ahead,” coach Mazandarani said.

U Mumba set a new record by signing Sunil Kumar for INR 1.015 cr, the highest for any Indian defender in PKL 11. The team also retained Iran's Amirmohammad Zafardanesh, defender Rinku. Meanwhile, the fresh auction buys include raider Manjeet, Stuwart Singh, and Iran's Amin Ghorbani. The upcoming season will also see Sunil and Parvesh Bhainswal be on same side of the mat, giving fans a chance to witness Asian Games gold-winning “Su-Par” magic every time U Mumba plays.
