Aman Sehrawat produced two commanding performances to storm into the men’s freestyle 57kg semifinals. But Aman crumbled in the semifinal against Japan's Rei Higuchi. He, however, still has a shot at the bronze medal, for which he'll compete against Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico on Friday.

Paris Olympics 2024 Day 13 Live Updates: Antim Panghal clears the air after controversy. In a video shared on the 'X' account of nnis Sports, the grappler said:

Antim started with the information related to her accreditation card.

“I want to clarify that the reports about my sister or me being arrested by police in Paris is false, nothing of this sort happened.”

“Yesterday I fell extremely sick after losing the bout and had high fever. So my sister, who was staying in a hotel asked me to come there. I  took the permission from my coach, which he allowed.

"After coming to the hotel, I needed my belongings, which were at the Olympic Village. But as I was not feeling well I slept and my sister took my accreditation card and went to the Village.

“Upon reaching there she informed that this is my sister’s accreditation card and she is unwell, so can I collect her belongings from the Village. The officials took the accreditation card and took her to the police station for verification. I was not taken to the police station, only my sister went. And that too just to verify the accreditation, following which she was asked to go and was handed over the accreditation card."

Antim then addressed the controversy involving his coaches and the cab driver. 

“They are also saying that the coach fought with a cab driver. This didn’t happen at all, when I lost the bout, even the coach was extremely upset. While I came to the hotel, he stayed at the Village and we booked a cab for him till the hotel.

“The problem escalated due to language barrier. After reaching the hotel, the coaches didn't have enough Euro and informed the cab driver to allow them to go to the room and bring it. However, both parties had problems understanding each other and in the meantime one coach came up to the room. It took him almost five minutes to return back with Euro, so due to this there was a fight between the coaches and the cab driver."

The Indian men's hockey team will look for redemption after enduring a tough 2-3 loss against Germany in the semifinal. The team led by Harmanpreet Singh meets Spain in the bronze medal match, which starts at 5:30pm in the evening. While India engaged in a close encounter and showcased good tempo in their previous encounter, Spain were steamrolled by the Netherlands in the other semifinal. Spain defeated defending champions Belgium to script a brilliant upset in the quarterfinal, but endured a 0-4 loss against the Dutch.

Day 13 will see two medal hopeful events, the biggest between them being the men's javelin throw finals, featuring India's golden boy Neeraj Chopra. The Tokyo Olympic gold medallist will be in action late night at 11:55pm. Neeraj qualified for the finals with a gigantic throw of 89.34m in his first attempt in the qualification. It was also the longest among all 30 participants and it certainly raises hope of another Olympic gold by arguably India's most decorated athlete.

If day-12 was heart wrenching, day-13 started-off on a sad note with Vinesh Phogat announcing her retirement from wrestling after the unfortunate news of her disqualification from the Paris Olympics. Vinesh failed to meet the weight cut in the women's freestyle 50kg wrestling event, hours before her gold medal bout.
