Yashasvi Jaiswal shouts 'I believe in myself' as frustrated Mitchell Starc employees bail switch tactic

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mitchell Starc were back at each other yet again, this time on the final day of the fourth Test between India and Australia in Melbourne. The duo also engaged in banter after Starc employed the bail switch tactic to distract the youngster, who is leading India's charge in the 340-run chase.

Soon after Starc switched the bails, Jaiswal put them in its original position, which was noticed by the bowler, who once again reversed its position. Starc was also seen having some words with the Indian.

Starc asked the Indian if he believed in superstition, to which the batter responded: "I believe in myself." The exchange between the two continued as Jaiswal was caught on the stump mic saying: "I'm just enjoying the moment."

India were reduced to 33/3 at Lunch but Jaiswal has restored some normalcy in a tensed final day affair between the two sides. The southpaw has completed his half-century and is leading the run-chase along with Rishabh Pant. The duo have added 50-plus stand for the fourth wicket as Australia are desperately looking to break the partnership.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins ran the show earlier and removed his counterpart Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul in the same over. Both lost their wickets in almost similar fashion as Rohit was caught by Mitchell Marsh near the gully region for 9, while Rahul didn't trouble the scorers and was caught by Usman Khawaja at first slip. Virat Kohli then lost his wicket right at the stroke of Lunch as he tried to drive a delivery outside the off-stump line by Mitchell Starc. Kohli was caught-behind for 5, leaving the visitors in a spot of bother.

Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland, who revived Aussies hope on Day 4, resumed proceedings on the final day from the overnight total of 228/9 and added 6 more runs before Jasprit Bumrah inflicted the final blow. The wicket took Bumrah's tally to five in the second innings, which was the third time he achieved the feat in this tour.

Perth face-off

This isn't the first time in the series when the duo have thrown verbal volleys at each other. In the Perth Test, Jaiswal was heard telling Starc that he is bowling too slow, which was a response to the Australian's remarks to Harshit Rana. Starc then batting in the first innings had warned Rana that he can also bowl quick after the Indian tried to trouble him with a barrage of short deliveries.

Jaiswal, while batting in the second, went on to hammer 161 off 297 balls and teased Starc about his earlier remarks while he was in the middle, making the moment as one of the highlights of the tour.
