India's young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal gave Mitchell Starc a taste of his own medicine on Day 2 of the Perth Test. Jaiswal was engaged in an intense battle with the Aussie quick, which the Indian won in some style. This also led to some heated moment on the pitch and out here too Jaiswal didn't shy from giving a strong response to the Australian.

The incident took place in the 19th over of India's second innings, a ball after the opener smashed Starc for a commanding boundary towards the backward square leg region. After being hit for a boundary Starc responded with a fuller delivery, which almost took the outside edge of Jaiswal on its way to the wicketkeeper. Soon after the delivery, Starc gave Jaiswal a stare, to which the Indian responded "it's coming too slow."

Starc walked back to his mark with cheeky smile on his face and cranked up a 145 kph delivery to finish the over. Jaiswal left the ball and both shared a smile in the end.

The response was also directed at Starc's earlier comments at his former Kolkata Knight Riders colleague Harshit Rana. Starc, who scored 26 off 112 deliveries before getting out against Rana earlier in the opening session of Day 2, had warned the pacer of him being quicker between the two.

"I bowl a lot faster than you. And I’ve got a long memory" Starc had then said Rana after the Indian tried to trouble the tail-ender with a barrage of bouncers.

In the first innings, Jaiswal was dismissed for an eight-ball duck. He looked far more composed when he came out to bat for the second time in Perth. He is currently the second highest run-getter in Test in 2024 behind England's Joe Root.

Coming back to match, India were leading by 150 runs with an unbeaten partnership of 105 runs in 42 overs between KL Rahul and Jaiswal. The left-handed batter scored his ninth Test fifty and it came at crucial time for his team.
