India wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in a late night social media post on Sunday. The veteran wicketkeeper was a mainstay in the Indian Test team post MS Dhoni's retirement from the red-ball format. The gloveman, who turned 40 last month, said the ongoing Ranji Trophy season will be his last before drawing curtains on his career.
"After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I’m honored to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire. Let’s make this season one to remember!" he wrote on X.

Saha has represented India in 40 Tests and 9 ODIs. In fact, he is third in the list of Indian wicketkeeper's with most Test centuries, with only Dhoni and Rishabh Pant being above the gloveman from Siliguri, West Bengal. Saha accumulated a total of 1353 Test runs, which include three Test tons and six half-centuries.
Saha's last Test appearance was almost three years ago back in 2021 against New Zealand. Despite putting some decent performances he was phased out of the team as the new management with Rahul Dravid as coach and Rohit Sharma as captain switched focus on KS Bharat as team's second wicketkeeper in the format. However, that spot is now occupied by Dhruv Jurel.
Saha is one of the rare players who has played in every edition of the IPL since its inception in 2008. He represented five franchises in his IPL journey, which includes Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT). He has featured in 170 IPL encounters and amassed 2934 runs at a strike-rate of 127.57. He also scored a ton in the IPL and registered 13 half-centuries.
