World Test Championship: India's thrilling six-run victory against England in the fifth Test at the Oval in London on Monday put them in third place in the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings. With the victory, India were able to level the five-match series 2-2 and begin the WTC 2025–27 campaign on a strong note under new captain Shubman Gill. The outcome, on the other hand, saw England drop to fourth. Ben Stokes and Co. will also feel bitter for the two points, which were deducted, for a slow over rate in the Lord's Test.
India-England engaged in one of the most fiercely contested and dramatic matchups in recent memory, thanks to the tenacious Mohammed Siraj's warrior mentality. Before play began on Day 5, England had the upper hand with four wickets and 35 runs remaining, but Siraj made life miserable for the rival batsmen from the very first delivery.

In the end, his effort — which was nicely supported by Prasidh Krishna at the other end — left England down by the narrowest of margins, enabling India to finish the high-pressure five-match rubber level at 2-2.
