Mohammed Siraj is a great competitor as witnessed in the second and third Test in the ongoing tour of England. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the pacer from Hyderabad spearheaded India's attack at Edgbaston, chipping in with crucial blows and also registering a five-wicket haul in the process.
In the next encounter at Lord's, Siraj displayed unmatched aggression and was once again clinical with the ball. However, it was his resilience with the bat that has been highly admired. While Ravindra Jadeja stood firm and waged a lone battle, he needed assistance from others to guide India home. However, that wasn't the case. India resumed action on the final day of the Test - 135 runs away from the 193-target with six wickets in hand. It was a tricky ask and Indian batters crumbled under pressure. By the time the first session came to an end, India were reduced to 112/8.

The result of England winning, which they eventually did, was more or less determined at that point. However, Jadeja delayed the inevitable after superb support from tailenders Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj.
While Bumrah resisted for 54 balls only to run out of patience, which resulted in his wicket. With England bowlers testing Bumrah with a barrage of short deliveries, the tailender fell to the prey after going for a wild pull, which resulted in an easy catch for the substitute fielder off Ben Stokes' bowling.
In walked Siraj, who had a mountain to climb, considering his primary skills is bowling. With 35 runs still away from the target, Siraj kept England on their toes with a valiant show of not letting his wicket fall. Jadeja, present at the other hand, kept ticking the scoreboard and the pair took India to 170 before the final nail was hammered by the hosts.
But what was heart-breaking was the fact it came in the least expected manner. Shoaib Bashir, bowling with a taped hand, dismissed Siraj after he defended the ball, which after bouncing on the pitch rolled back onto the stumps. Siraj was eventually dismissed for 4(30) as India lost the match by 22 runs.

After being heart of the action in the game's most testing period, Siraj took his time and only on late on Tuesday, almost 24 hours after the match ended, reacted to the outcome. "Some matches stay with you, not for the outcome, but for what they teach," he wrote on social media.
The outcome saw India trail 1-2 in the five-match series, with the fourth encounter set to be played in Manchester from July 23.
