Following an incredible inaugural season in the Indian Premier League, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the teenage prodigy for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), was welcomed home with great fanfare in Bihar.
After returning to his hometown of Tajpur, Bihar, the fiery left-hander, who was one of the few bright spots in the Royals' disastrous IPL 2025 campaign, was warmly welcomed. The RR shared the lovely moments in a video that was uploaded on Friday, May 23.

After being the talk of the town for his incredible blitz as an opener for the 2008 IPL champions, Suryavanshi was met with cheers and garlands at his village, where family and friends arranged a special cake-cutting ceremony for the youngster.
Following strong performances for India U-19, Suryavanshi was signed by the Royals for Rs 1.10 crores prior to the competition. Midway through the season, the 14-year-old entered the Royals' starting lineup and finished with 252 runs with a strike rate of 206.55.

Suryavanshi became famous following his historic century against the Gujarat Titans, where he became the youngest IPL centurion ever with 101 off just 38 balls.

The kid prodigy played a key role in defeating the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, May 20, in his last game of the season. With an intimidating target of 188, the Royals had Suryavanshi hammering the opposition right away with his amazing 57 off 33 deliveries, which included four fours and four sixes.
During a terrible season in which RR was eliminated by several tight defeats, the young hero led the Royals to their fourth victory.
Soon after, Suryavanshi sat down to discuss his season with head coach Rahul Dravid, who praised the player but cautioned him not to become comfortable and return to the Royals camp next summer even better.
“It was a really good season for you. Continue this way. Keep working hard and keep in mind, since you’ve done so well this season, all these opposition bowlers you see are going to come better prepared and so we must also work harder and prepare even better," Dravid said in a video posted by the Indian Premier League.
“You must continue improving, developing new skills. So when next season we get back together, you are a better player."
Suryavanshi's next appearance in cricket will be during India's June–July U-19 tour to England.
