IPL 2025: Asked to bat first by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a sluggish start at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. But Sam Curran, batting at No. 3 for CSK, steadied the hosts’ innings with his first fifty of the season.
Curran reached his half-century off 30 balls just after putting up a 78-run stand with Dewald Brevis (32) for the fourth wicket. But it was Curran’s celebration that caught the eye. In a clear some message to someone, signalled to someone in the CSK dugout to give him a call, after raising his bat to acknowledge the applause. Watch the video here...

Punjab had defeated CSK by 18 runs in their previous meeting this season. With only one victory in their last five home games, CSK haven't had a fantastic home record lately.
CSK have struggled this season, and are currently languishing at the last spot in the points table with just two victories from nine games played. Their chances of finishing in the top four appear slim. CSK have won 16 matches in their 31 IPL encounters against PBKS, who have won 15 times. This also includes victories in Super Overs. In Chennai, PBKS have had four victories and as many losses against CSK.
