With or without the bat, Virat Kohli has always been a formidable presence on the field. When he ran-out Nehal Wadhera during the match against Punjab Kings on Sunday, he stole the show with a fierce farewell, which instantly went viral. Kohli wasn't finished, though. Fans were once again drawn to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star when he came out to bat in the 158-run chase, during which he was also seen exchanging words with PBKS spinner in Punjabi.
Kohli, who has a well-established fondness for Punjabi, was seen sarcastically informing Brar that he has played cricket for 20 years and even knows his coach, which was caught on the stump mic. Brar couldn't help but laugh at the joke and the humorous incident was shared on social media.
Playful banter between Kohli & Brar #rcbvspkbsVirat Kohli: Its been 20 years.Harpreet Brar: Huh?Kohli: Its been 20 years. I even know your coach.Brar: No bro, I just threw it casually.Kohli: Your arms gotten really weak. You used to be able to break the stumps with that. pic.twitter.com/rtBCk7ybX3

Two days after losing to the same team at home, RCB completed a sweet retribution by defeating Punjab Kings by seven wickets, also ensuring that their perfect record in away matches this season remain intact. With Devdutt Padikkal hitting a brilliant 61 off 35 balls, his first IPL fifty in 22 innings, and Kohli leading the chase with a cool 73* off 54 deliveries, the chase of 158 was never in doubt.
In just 11.3 overs, Padikkal and Kohli combined to gather 103 runs for the second wicket. While Kohli was happy to rotate the strike and use his trademark strokes when necessary, such as an inside-out six against Yuzvendra Chahal, Padikkal took charge of the acceleration. After finishing the chase in 18.5 overs, RCB moved up to the top four of the standings.
IPL 2025: How can CSK still qualify for play-offs after nine-wicket thrashing against Mumbai Indians
Earlier, after being called in to bat, Punjab Kings finished with a below-average 157/6, unable to build on a promising start. Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (33) put up 42 runs in the opening partnership, but the innings fell apart after Arya was removed by Krunal Pandya. In the middle overs, Krunal (2/25) and leggie Suyash Sharma (2/26) put pressure on PBKS, who lost three wickets for only 14 runs and could never fully recover from the triple blow.
Echoing their prior collapse against KKR at the same venue, PBKS' problems were exacerbated by Nehal Wadhera's sloppy run-out and poor shot selection by Josh Inglis and Shreyas Iyer.
