KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock shared an opening partnership of over 100 runs to take their team home against the mighty Chennai Super Kings. KL Rahul scored 82 of 53 balls while his opening partner De Kock got out at 54 runs. They have successfully chased 177 runs as target set by the CSK with 8 wickets in hand.
Lucknow Super Giants started off their innings slowly and steadily as KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock opened the innings. They played the initial overs with a few shots but carefully keeping in mind not to lose any wicket. This strategy helped them build up a big opening partnership and win the match with ease.
KL Rahul’s special knock
When LSG came to chase 177 against the resurgent Chennai Super Kings, no one believed that it would be such an easy victory for the LSG, but it took some brilliant effort by their skipper KL Rahul to steer his team home. KL Rahul played a special knock of 82 runs in 53 balls and it took a special catch by Ravindra Jadeja to end a wonderful knock. By the time Rahul got out, win was only a formality for LSG.
Chennai Super Kings scored 176/6 in their 20 overs and set a target of 177 runs for the LSG. Chennai Super Kings faced early setbacks as they lost two quick wickets, Rachin Ravindra 0 and Ruturaj Gaikwad 17. Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jedeja tried to place the innings for CSK but Rahane got out on 36 in the ninth over. Shivam Dube also got out early on 3 as Marcus Stoinis got him out on a short ball yet again. Impact player Sameer Rizvi couldn’t have much impact and was stumped at 1 run. Moeen Ali gets out at 30 in 20 balls. Dhoni played an excellent knock of 28 runs off 9 balls while Jadeja remained not out at 57.
Jadeja chipped-in with a fighting innings
Ravindra Jadeja put up a fighting batting display against the LSG despite regular fall of wickets for the Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja and Moeen Ali also bring up the 50-run partnership in no time to accelerate the scoring rate. Jadeja scored 57* to take CSK to a fighting total against the LSG.
Dhoni’s cameo
Mahendra Singh Dhoni picked up his innings from where he left in the last match against the Mumbai Indians. He scored 28* runs off 9 balls to take his team to a total of 176/6 in 20 overs. He took Yash Thakur to task and hit two fours and a six in the last over.
