Ashutosh Sharma took Delhi Capitals (DC) to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash with a knock that will be remembered for a long time. Chasing 210, DC were 113/6 in the 13th over when IPL debutant Vipraj Nigam walked in to join Ashutosh at the crease.
Together, the youngsters put up a 55-run stand for the 7th wicket, before Nigam fell to Digvesh Rathi after scoring 39 runs off 15 balls. But Ashutosh carried on in his pursuit of the target, showing remarkable temperament and showcasing stunning hitting ability the Madhya Pradesh-born player smashed 5 sixes and 5 fours in his unbeaten knock of 66 off 31 balls to take DC to victory in Vizag on Monday.
On Tuesday, DC shared a video on their X handle, in which Ashutosh can be seen talking to former India opener Shikhar Dhawan on a video call. In the video, Dhawan can be seen congratulating Ashutosh on playing such a remarkable knock to take DC to victory.

Dhawan was Punjab Kings captain when Ashutosh played for the franchise last year. Ashutosh was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the mega auction last year and he was acquired by DC for Rs 3.8 crore.
Ashutosh, who was adjudged the Man of the Match, said after the match, “Took the lessons from last year. Missed out on finishing the game on a couple of occasions in the previous season. The whole year I focused and visualised about it. Had the belief that if I play till the last over, anything can happen. Well played to Vipraj. I asked him to keep hitting. He was very calm under pressure. Want to dedicate this award to my mentor Shikhar (Dhawan) paaji.”
