Shivam Dube was the third-highest run-getter for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-hander was instrumental in the eventual triumph of CSK in 2023, with 418 runs with three fifties at a strike rate of 158.33. He can play all around the park and is a big hitter of the ball. The Chennai Super Kings won the IPL title for a fifth time in 2023.
Shivam Dube, 30, had fallen off the radar after 2020. The selectors stopped considering him in the international team before performances in the IPL helped him stage a comeback in style.
He played a few matches in the Asian Games before scoring two fifties in the three-match series against Afghanistan in January 2024. He remained unbeaten in those two matches.
Dube started his IPL journey with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019 before moving to Rajasthan Royals in 2021. He has been part of the CSK team since 2022.
Although a decent seam bowler, he did not have to bowl much in the IPL for CSK. He only has four wickets in his entire IPL career of 51 matches. It happened in 2020 during his stint with RCB.
The 6 feet, 4 inches tall all-rounder has appeared in 120 T20 games with 2,274 runs and 10 fifties and a strike-rate of 139.76. Dube has 45 dismissals under his name with a best bowling performance of 3/27.
Dube has smashed 135 sixes in his T20 career, and 73 came in the IPL.
His style of play has often led to comparisons with former cricketer Yuvraj Singh.
