Captain Rohit Sharma will return to lead the team for the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, having last featured for India during the ODI leg of the Sri Lanka tour in early August.
The Indian squad has been training in Chennai over the past weekend in preparation for the first Test, which begins on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. During one of the net sessions, Rohit Sharma was seen practising a shot he rarely employs in match situations across formats. In a bid to counter the threat from Bangladesh's spinners, the India captain was honing his reverse sweep, as captured in an image posted by a user on X.

Bangladesh arrive in India following their historic Test series win in Pakistan, where they not only secured their first Test victory over Pakistan but also achieved a whitewash (2-0) on their opponents' home turf. They won the first Test by 10 wickets and the second by 6 wickets, with a remarkable comeback after being reduced to 26 for 6 in their first innings.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the leading wicket-taker in the series with 10 wickets, while veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan claimed five with his left-arm spin.
India currently lead the World Test Championship table, with Bangladesh in fourth place. Following the Chennai Test, the two teams will face off in the second Test starting September 27 in Kanpur.
The series will conclude with three T20Is scheduled for October 6, 9, and 12.
