World Cup–winning Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal were scheduled to marry on Sunday (November 23) in Sangli, Maharashtra. However, the much-anticipated wedding has been put on hold after a series of unexpected health emergencies within the families. The ceremony was first postponed due to the ill health of Smriti’s father, and soon after, the groom himself was taken to hospital.

According to an update shared on Tuesday by Palash Muchhal’s sister and playback singer Palak Muchhal, the composer has now been shifted to SVR Hospital in Goregaon, Mumbai.

He was initially admitted to a hospital in Sangli, where the wedding festivities were taking place. Palak revealed that Palash’s continuous travel schedule for concerts and back-to-back performances at various wedding events had left him physically and mentally exhausted, ultimately leading to severe stress that affected his health.

On Monday night, Palak Muchhal issued an official statement through her Instagram Stories, confirming that the wedding had been “put on hold for the time being.” Requesting privacy for both families, she wrote, “Due to Smriti’s dad’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We request all of you to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time.”

The postponement also comes amid growing curiosity among fans, especially after Smriti Mandhana deleted all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account on Monday.

The star batter had only recently made her relationship announcement public. Last week, she officially confirmed her engagement to Palash by sharing a cheerful video in which she flaunted her ring while dancing with her teammates to the popular Lage Raho Munna Bhai track “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya.”

Both Smriti and Palash had earlier shared several pictures from their pre-wedding festivities, giving fans a glimpse into what promised to be a grand celebration. The couple, who have reportedly been dating for nearly six years, made their relationship Instagram-official in 2024, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about young celebrity pairs in sports and music.

Sources close to the families say that while the situation is emotionally taxing, the focus at the moment remains firmly on recuperation and family well-being. No fresh date for the wedding has been announced yet, and both families have urged fans and the media to avoid speculation.

For now, supporters across the country are wishing both Mandhana’s father and Palash Muchhal a speedy recovery, hoping the couple can soon resume their wedding plans in healthier and happier circumstances.
