The Bombay High Court has granted interim relief to music composer Palash Muchhal amid controversy surrounding his personal life. The court has restrained Vidnyan Mane from making or publishing any further remarks against Palash, taking serious note of statements that were allegedly defamatory.
The matter arose after claims surfaced that Palash’s wedding with Indian women cricketer Smriti Mandhana was called off due to alleged infidelity. According to reports, the High Court observed that such comments, when circulated publicly, could significantly damage an individual’s reputation and dignity.
In its order, the bench emphasised the importance of preventing further harm and directed an immediate restraint on Vidnyan Mane from issuing or repeating any statements concerning Palash until further proceedings in the matter. The court’s intervention is seen as an effort to ensure that allegations are addressed within the framework of law rather than through public commentary.
Reacting to the development, advocate Shreyansh Mithare, who is representing Palash, described the ruling as a major relief for his client. He said the order effectively puts a stop to what he termed as false remarks. According to him, the court’s direction restores a sense of fairness amid what has become a highly publicised controversy.
The dispute escalated after Vidnyan Mane, who claims to be a childhood friend of Smriti Mandhana, made explosive allegations regarding the alleged cancellation of the wedding. Mane stated that he was present during the wedding functions and claimed that Palash was caught with another woman.
“I was at the wedding celebrations (November 23, 2025) when he was caught red-handed with another woman in bed. Bhayanak scene tha, he was beaten up by the Indian female cricketers. The entire family is chindi chor. I thought he’d get married and settle in Sangli, but it has completely backfired on me,” Mane said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Mane further alleged that Palash cheated him of over Rs 40 lakh and claimed that he has filed a complaint in Sangli. He asserted that he possesses evidence to back his claims. “I have saved all proofs including my chats and phone conversations that I’m willing to share with the police and the media,” he added.
In response to the allegations, Palash issued a statement on Instagram, firmly denying the claims. “In light of the allegations made by Sangli-based Vidnyan Mane on social media, I wish to state that these claims against me are entirely baseless and factually incorrect,” Palash wrote.
“They have been made with malicious intent to tarnish my reputation, and they will not go unchallenged. My lawyer, Shreyansh Mithare, is exploring all legal avenues, and this matter will be dealt with strictly through the appropriate legal channels,” he added.
With the High Court’s interim restraint now in place, the legal battle is set to continue in court, where the claims and counterclaims will be examined through due process.
