    For years, Kamran Akmal’s wicketkeeping has divided opinion, with his glovework often coming under fire despite his consistent performances with the bat. His career was frequently punctuated by criticism over dropped catches, missed stumpings, and crucial errors that seemed to erase his batting heroics. That narrative re-emerged dramatically during the opening match of the 2025 World Championship of Legends.

    Representing the Pakistan Champions against the England Champions, Akmal found himself back in the spotlight—though not for the reasons he'd have hoped. In the sixth over of England’s innings, with Shoaib Malik bowling to Phil Mustard, a chance arose that should’ve been routine for a keeper of Akmal’s calibre. Mustard stepped down the pitch looking for a big shot, only to be completely deceived by the sharp spin of the ball.
