Kamran Akmal, a former member of the Pakistan cricket team, faced severe backlash for his inappropriate comment directed at Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh during the T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan.
Akmal, part of a cricket panel analyzing the game, made a controversial remark regarding Arshdeep's religion during India-Pakistan match as he took the crucial responsibility of bowling the final over, which led India to a narrow six-run victory.
"Kuch bhi ho sakta hai... 12 baj gaye hai (Anything can happen. It is already 12)," he commented. "Kisi Sikh ko nahi dena chahiye 12 baje over (No Sikh should be given the over at 12 midnight)," another guest chimed in, eliciting laughter from Akmal.
The comment sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many condemning it as 'racist.' Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh took to social media to deliver a poignant response.
"Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of Sikhs before u open ur filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved ur mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o'clock. Shame on you…Have some Gratitude," he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Despite the controversy, India's victory was highlighted by Rishabh Pant's explosive batting and a disciplined bowling performance from the fast bowlers, resulting in a thrilling encounter against Pakistan.
