The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on September 28 said that players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will receive a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakhs per game.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah made this announcement on X and said each IPL franchise will allocate Rs 12.60 crore as match fees for the season. This will be in addition to the amount the players will get under their respective contracts.
Jay Shah wrote on X that this decision was taken to "celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances" in the Indian Premier League. He also mentioned that players would receive a lump some amount of Rs 1.05 crore if they participate in every league game in a season.
"In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!" Shah posted on X.

In the meantime, it is said that the ten IPL clubs would be permitted to keep five players and one Right-to-Match (RTM) card for the forthcoming super auction. The retention regulations are expected to be finalised before the 93rd Annual General Meet of the BCCI, which is scheduled to be held on September 29, according to a report in ESPNcricinfo.
The source cited by the publication, however, was unable to specify the number of Indian or foreign players that could be included in the retained group.
"It could not yet be confirmed how many Indian players can be part of the set of retained players or whether there will be a cap on retained overseas players. What is also unknown are the retention slabs," the report stated.
The primary focal point of the BCCI's 93rd Annual General Meeting, to be held in Bengaluru on September 29, will be to elect two representatives of India to the ICC meetings, as finding a successor to incumbent secretary Jay Shah is not on agenda.
The meeting assumes importance because the International Cricket Council has scheduled a conclave in Dubai at the end of the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE.
