The Rajasthan Royals acquired 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for Rs 1.10 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction, giving him the opportunity to participate in seven games in the most lucrative franchise cricket tournament in the world.

The left-handed batsman from Bihar scored 252 runs in those seven games, including one hundred and one fifty. He smashed the record for the fastest century scored by an Indian batter in IPL history, and he had a strike rate of 206.55 in this year's competition.

Vaibhav travelled to England with the India U-19 side following the end of the 2025 Indian Premier League, where he made an impression with his batting prowess in the youth ODIs.

Former India batsman Ambati Rayudu is impressed by Vaibhav's development as a cricket player over the past five months. Rayudu believes the young hitter will soon be able to play at the highest level for the Men in Blue.

In response to a question on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube webcast regarding Suryavanshi, Rayudu offered insightful counsel for the youngster, stating that he shouldn’t listen to anyone.

“His bat speed is extraordinary. Jo uska whip aata hai… I hope nobody changes that. He should get better. Someone like Lara… maybe go and talk to him. He also had a similar type of bat lift. So he can learn about how to control the bat speed when you are defending and when you are playing with a soft hand. So if he learns that, then he will be an extraordinary talent."

“He only has to focus on one thing, and that is he should not listen to many people. Don’t listen to people; just back your talent. And for coaches also, it is important that usko jyada gyaan mat do. Leave him," he added.

“He’s extraordinary talent. Agar sambhal ke usko sahi guide karenge… He is lucky that Rahul (Dravid) bhai is with him. Rahul Bhai will take care of him."

With five first-class and six List A appearances under his belt, Suryavanshi will next be seen playing for the India U-19 team against Australia. He will go to Australia to play in two youth Test matches and three youth ODIs. The away series gets underway in Brisbane on September 21.
