TRIONDA has been formally announced by FIFA as the official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be the first to be co-hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada. Adidas created the ball, which represents the solidarity of the host nations and features cutting-edge technology to improve play and officiating during the historic competition, which is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
"Tri," which stands for the three host countries—the United States, Mexico, and Canada—and "onda," which is Spanish for "wave" or "vibe," are combined to form the term TRIONDA.

Each nation's national identity is reflected in the design's distinctive combination of red, green, and blue hues: Canada's maple leaf symbology is red, Mexico's eagle is green, and the United States' star motif is blue.
The ball's gold embellishments honor the FIFA World Cup trophy, combining beauty and history in its overall design.
A novel element of TRIONDA is its four panels, which is the fewest in World Cup history. By reducing seams, this design innovation improves aerodynamics and flight smoothness, which in turn increases in-flight stability.
To ensure consistent performance in the three host countries' diverse climates, the ball's deep seams and embossed surface design also improve grip, particularly in damp or humid situations.
Integrating cutting-edge Connected Ball Technology is one of TRIONDA's most innovative features. As the ball's "heartbeat," a 500Hz motion sensor chip built into one of the panels sends data in real time to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
Referees may spot important movements like handballs or touches on the ball with the aid of this technology, which also instantly calls out offsides. It is anticipated to help increase officiating accuracy throughout the competition and is the most sophisticated iteration of Adidas' connected ball technology to date.
