NASA has issued an alert for two asteroids passing Earth soon. These space rocks include one bus-sized and two airplane-sized objects. While they pose no threat, their approach highlights the need for constant asteroid tracking and planetary defence efforts.
Asteroids Passing Earth
NASA’s data shows that Asteroid 2025 CQ, around 150 feet wide, will pass 1.39 million miles away. This distance is just beyond the Moon. Asteroid 2025 CC, about 33 feet wide, will be 3.97 million miles away. Another asteroid, 2025 BR, will pass at 3.6 million miles.
Are These Asteroids Dangerous?
NASA confirms that none of these objects pose an immediate risk. However, space rocks of similar size have caused regional impacts before. Scientists continue monitoring such asteroids to assess potential future risks to Earth.
NASA’s Planetary Defence Efforts
The Planetary Defense Coordination Office tracks asteroids within 4.6 million miles of Earth. Using telescopes like NEOWISE and Pan-STARRS, they study trajectories and impact risks. NASA also works on deflection missions like DART, which successfully altered an asteroid’s path in 2022.
