Vinayaka Chaturthi 2025: Auspicious Muhurat for Ganesha Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi Day

Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi 2025. It marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the harbinger of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. This festival falls on the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, which corresponds to August or September in the Gregorian calendar.

The 10-day celebration is popularly known as Ganeshotsav and it begins with Ganapati Sthapana (installation of idols), concludes with Ganesh Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi. In 2025, Anant Chaturdashi falls on Saturday, September 6, 2025, when devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with grandeur and devotion.

On this day, devotees tie the Anant Sutra (a sacred thread with 14 knots symbolizing the 14 worlds) on their arm after worshiping Lord Vishnu, Yamuna, and Sheshnag. It is believed that tying the Anant Sutra brings divine protection and blessings.

Anant Chaturdashi 2025: Significance

Anant Chaturdashi 2025 will be observed on September 6 (Saturday). On this day, devotees not only bid farewell to Lord Ganesha through Visarjan but also worship Lord Vishnu in his infinite form.

Ganesh Visarjan 2025: Rituals

The most awaited moment of Ganeshotsav is Ganesh Visarjan, when devotees immerse the idol of Lord Ganesha in water after vibrant processions filled with devotional songs, dances, and chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya.

As per tradition, Ganesh Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi 2025 will take place on September 6. Devotees express gratitude to Lord Ganesha for his blessings and pray for his return the following year.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Prohibited Moon Sighting

A unique belief associated with Ganesh Chaturthi is the prohibition of moon sighting. As per legends, seeing the moon on this day brings Mithya Dosha (false accusation curse). This stems from the story of Lord Krishna being wrongly accused of stealing the Syamantaka jewel after sighting the moon on Chaturthi. To avoid this curse, devotees refrain from looking at the moon during the Chaturthi Tithi. If mistakenly seen, chanting the Mithya Dosha Nivaran Mantra is recommended to nullify its effects.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 and Anant Chaturdashi hold deep spiritual importance for Hindus worldwide. While Ganesh Chaturthi symbolizes the arrival of Lord Ganesha with prosperity and wisdom, Anant Chaturdashi marks his departure through Visarjan, along with the worship of Lord Vishnu in his infinite form.
