The sacred banks of Triveni Sangam, where the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati meet, continued to witness an overwhelming influx of devotees on the third day of the 45-day-long Maha Kumbh Mela. This grand spiritual gathering, which began on January 13, 2025, is often regarded as the largest congregation of humanity on Earth.
In just the first two days, over 50 million devotees took a holy dip in the confluence, seeking spiritual merit and divine blessings. The event has captured the devotion and faith of millions, who have traveled far and wide to partake in this extraordinary celebration of Sanatan Dharma.
The first major bathing day, known as Amrit Snan, took place on January 14 during the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. To mark this day, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, organized a spectacular flower shower from helicopters. Lakhs of devotees at the Sangam witnessed rose petals raining down, a gesture that filled the air with joy and chants of "Jai Shri Ram" and "Har Har Mahadev."
CM Yogi described the Maha Kumbh as a testament to the unwavering faith and strength of Sanatan Dharma. Reflecting on the significance of the event, he shared, "On the first Amrit Snan day, more than 3.5 crore revered saints and devotees earned the merit of bathing in the eternal and pure waters of Triveni Sangam."
He extended heartfelt gratitude to the various teams and departments involved in organizing this grand event, including the akhadas, local authorities, sanitation workers, police forces, and volunteer organizations. Their collective efforts ensured a seamless and safe experience for the attendees.
Maha Kumbh 2025: Security and Safety Measures
With over 10,000 security personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces, deployed at the venue, the safety of devotees has been a top priority. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has stationed a "water ambulance" at the Sangam, equipped with medical facilities and staffed by doctors and officials, to operate 24/7 throughout the festival.
For enhanced surveillance, underwater drones and 2,700 AI-enabled cameras have been installed in and around the Mela grounds. These advanced technologies ensure that the event remains secure for the millions of attendees.
Maha Kumbh 2025: Streamlined Transportation for Pilgrims
Indian Railways has risen to the occasion by operating an astounding 13,000 trains, including 3,000 special services, to facilitate the smooth arrival of devotees in Prayagraj. This robust transportation network reflects the scale and importance of Maha Kumbh 2025, ensuring that pilgrims from across the country can participate in the event with ease.
