Turkey sent two cargo planes to Egypt on Monday carrying medical equipment and supplies for Gaza, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said, adding two more aircraft would be sent with more supplies.

Bishan Singh Bedi, former India captain and country's greatest-ever left-arm spinner, died today after a prolonged illness. He was 77 years old and is survived by his wife Anju, son Angad and daughter Neha. Born in Amritsar in 1946, Bedi played 67 Tests for India and took 266 wickets with 14 five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket haul.

Israel's military said on Monday its ground forces had mounted limited raids into the Gaza Strip overnight and said their air strikes were focusing on sites where Palestinian militants were assembling to attack any wider Israeli invasion.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) today said that the military's ground forces conducted limited raids in Gaza.

Early today, a substantial number of injured civilians, some in critical condition, were urgently shifted to a medical facility in Gaza. This follows what's been described as the 'heaviest bombardment' by Israeli forces since Hamas' large-scale surprise offensive on October 7, with the bombardment still continuing.

The specific Gaza hospital, featured in a video shared by Al Jazeera on X, remains unclear. According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli forces have carried out overnight attacks across the Palestinian territory, killing more than 400, while many others remain trapped under the rubble of buildings hit by the airstrikes, as reported by emergency rescue personnel.

IMD, Bhubaneswar senior scientist Uma Shankar Das shared the latest weather update on Cyclone Hamoon in an interaction with the media today.

"Yesterday's deep depression that has moved with a speed of 13 km/hour in the Northeast direction, it is very likely to intensify into a very cyclonic storm in the next 6 hours, sea conditions will be rough to very rough till today evening and from tomorrow the sea condition will be very rough to high," said Das. "Fishermen have been advised to not to go into Westcentral Bay of Bengal till 25th October and north Bay of Bengal till 26th October, it is the time of paddy harvesting, so those people who are harvesting are advised to complete it fast and keep it in a safe place," he further added.

"There are 13 pollution hotspots in Delhi. Today, 8 other points including Shadipur, Mandir Marg, Patparganj, Sonia Vihar, and Moti Bagh witnessed AQI levels above 300 today due to local reasons. Special teams will be deputed here to identify and inspect local sources of pollution there," Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said during the emergency meeting today.

Around 12:27pm today, a fire broke out in Mumbai's Kandivali West in the Pavan Dham Veena Santur Building of Mahaveer Nagar. The fire was brought under control soon with the help of eight firefighters. According to authorities, four people have been injured in the mishap and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The government official also highlighted the following points:

- As of now, there is no reason to believe that the Centre's fiscal deficit target of 5.9 percent of GDP for 2023-24 will not be met.
- No reason to think the Centre will not follow its glide path to reduce the fiscal deficit to below 4.5 percent of GDP by 2025-26.
- Centre's capital expenditure has crossed 50 percent of the 2023-24 budget target of Rs 10 lakh crore.
- Collections under the Senior Citizens small savings scheme in April-September 2023 is Rs 74,675 crore, up 160 percent year-on-year.

The government official further noted that the central government could have cut its market borrowing for the second half of 2023-24 given the small savings collections. However, "we didn't as we wanted the "best of both worlds", noted the official.

"Bond yields are currently elevated, but it's not much of a concern at the moment. We are keeping an eye on developments. If they go beyond tolerance levels, then we will take appropriate corrective measures at that point in time. So far, we are fine with the levels. What we are not fine with is an increase in bond yields that can't be explained," said a government official today at the Monthly Economic Review.

Israel continued its overnight raids on Palestinians this morning, arresting several people in the occupied West Bank, as reported by the Palestinian authorities and media, the latest being in the Palestinian city of Hebron where Israeli forces have detained 59 citizens.

Israel continued its overnight raids this morning as well, nabbing dozens of people in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian authorities and media have reported. The Israeli forces made fresh arrests this morning in the Palestinian city of Hebron, detaining 59 citizens. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, 40 of the detained people are workers from the Gaza Strip.

Parag Desai, executive director at Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited, known for its Wagh Bakri brand of tea,passed away on October 22, a week after he suffered injuries when attacked by stray dogs, reports said. As per an Ahmedabad Mirror report, Desai was rushed to the Shelby Hospital after he slipped outside his home, trying to ward off street dogs on October 15.

A fire broke out reportedly in a godown in Delhi's Chawri Bazar today at 9:50am. The fire was soon brought under control with the aid of four fire tenders. No injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

The deep depression that has formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone by this evening, as per an India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin. The deep depression is located over the west-central Bay of Bengal, having moved northeastwards on October 22 night. It is situated around 400 km from Odisha's port town, Paradip, and 550 km south-southwest of West Bengal's Digha. After its formation, the cyclonic storm will be called 'Hamoon', a name given by Iran.

At least one person has been killed and five wounded after Israeli forces fired shots after a number of raids in the occupied West Bank. As per the Palestinian health ministry, the incident occurred during Israel's raid on the Jalazoun refugee camp in Ramallah city.

The Al-Aqsa Hospital situated in central Gaza has stated that 65 percent of the casualties taken to the hospital overnight were children. In addition, the director of Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza has said that the medical facility is on the verge of a “real disaster”, with fuel running out over the next 48 hours.

According to sources the death toll from the recent Israeli airstrike on the southern Gaza city of Rafah has now reached 29. Initially, medical sources had reported that a significant number of the casualties in Rafah were women and children. Furthermore, a doctor at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza stated that 65 percent of the patients brought to the hospital overnight were children, as reported by Al Jazeera.

An update on the Israeli airstrike in Gaza's Khan Younis reveals that the latest strike resulted in the death of at least six children, with a woman injured. The strike, which hit a house in the southern part of the Palestinian territory, also caused injuries to several others, as reported by Gaza's Interior Ministry.

Oil prices declined by over $1 on Monday as diplomatic efforts intensified over the weekend to de-escalate the Israel-Hamas conflict, raising concerns about a broader confrontation in the oil-rich region.

Brent crude futures dipped 67 cents to reach $91.49 per barrel at 02:03 GMT, following an earlier drop of $1.02 to $91.14 per barrel, according to Reuters.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell by 72 cents, trading at $87.36 per barrel, after a previous decrease of $1.72 to $87.03 per barrel on Monday.

Aid convoys began arriving in the Gaza Strip from Egypt during the weekend. However, Palestinian officials and humanitarian groups expressed that the deliveries remained insufficient to support the more than 2 million people in the territory living under Israeli blockade.

At least seven individuals, among them a medical professional, were apprehended during a predawn operation conducted by Israeli forces in the West Bank, which is under occupation.

As per the Palestinian news agency WAFA, six individuals were taken into custody in the city of Jericho, including Dr. Muhammad Awadat from Jericho Hospital, along with the former detainee Hamada Abu Al-Asal.

It is reported that Israeli forces entered Jericho from the northern entrance and the Aqabat Jabr camp.

Israeli air raids have reportedly killed nearly 400 across Gaza over the past 24 hours. The Palestinian media claims this to be the “heaviest bombardment” since Hamas' surprise offensive on Israel on October 7.

As per Palestinian news agency, WAFA, Israel carried out at least 25 air strikes, targeting residential areas across Gaza. Nearly two million people stay in these areas, according to the news agency.

WAFA further added that a number of these air raids were targeted at civilian homes without prior warnings.
