Key factors in the Trump trial that led to Jurors deciding on conviction

A jury of five women and seven men heard nearly two dozen witnesses over five weeks to arrive at the conviction.

Former US President Donald Trump was on Thursday, May 30, found guilty of conspiracy to pay hush money and suppress tabloid reports about his conduct with women, before the 2016 election. A jury of five women and seven men heard nearly two dozen witnesses over five weeks to arrive at the conviction. Trump was also accused of falsifying New York business records to cover up a conspiracy to corrupt the 2016 election.

Here are some of the key evidences that was presented before the jury:

Affair with Stormy Daniels
The jury was shown a picture of Trump with adult movie star Stormy Daniels, and evidence showed she later visited him at Trump Tower. Trump had pleaded not guilty, denying affair with Stormy Daniels.

Meeting To Hatch Hush Money Plot
In August 2015, a meeting at the Trump Tower led to the plot to pay hush money was held, atteneded by Trump's advisors Cohen and former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker. The meeting lasted less than 30 minutes, and Pecker testified that it was not put into writing, and he wanted to 'keep it under wraps'.

Hush Money Paid
Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen testified that Trump was aware about the payments to reimburse Cohen for the hush money. Cohen was the key witness and one of Trump’s trusted advisers before the 2016 US election.

Disrespectful Remarks on Tape
During the 2016 election campaign, a so-called Access Hollywood tape was released showing comments by Trump about sexual assault. Witnesses said the tape motivated Trump to pay hush money to Daniels.

Hand-Written Note
Evidence before the Jurors showed a repayment plan to Cohen, including a handwritten notes by former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg that showed Cohen would get a sum of $420,000, to cover the Daniels hush money along with $50,000 for other expense and bonus.

Stormy Daniels' testimony played its part in convincing jurors that Trump had something to hide as 2016 election approached.
