    No Lawyer Represents Hindu Priest Chinmoy Das in Bangladesh; Bail Hearing Delayed by a Month

    Iskcon priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, arrested on sedition charges for allegedly hoisting a saffron flag above Bangladesh's national flag during an October rally, remains in custody after being denied bail. His next hearing is set for January 2, 2025. Das’ lawyer, Ramen Roy, was brutally attacked and hospitalised, deterring others from representing him. ISKCON Kolkata appealed to the Bangladesh government for lawyer safety and condemned the hostile environment for justice supporters. Authorities froze bank accounts of 17 ISKCON associates for 30 days. Two additional priests were arrested after visiting Das in prison, intensifying concerns for minority rights in Bangladesh.
