Vivo has launched the Vivo Y17 in India. The smartphone was rumoured to launch during the IPL season alongside the Y3. Vivo has listed the Y17 on its official website which finally puts to rest the numerous leaks and reports around the smartphone.

The official reveals that Y17 features a 6.35-inch HD+ LCD screen with a resolution of 720*1544 and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has a water-drop notch and very thin bezels at the bottom, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 89 per cent.

Under the hood is a 12nm MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.3GHz paired with a sole 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The smartphone has an ‘Ultra Game Mode’ and ‘Competition mode’ that when enabled, allocates the system resources to prioritise a game’s performance.

For power-hungry users, the Y17 packs a massive 5,000 mAh battery with support for 18W Dual-Engine fast charging. The company claims that the charging tech is safe with the use of nine charging protection technologies for the charging process.

In optics, the Y17 features a triple-camera setup at the back. It includes a primary 13MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, an 8MP f/2.2 Super Wide-Angle 120 degrees lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The notch on display has a 20MP front camera for selfies and video calling.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Micro-USB with OTG, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, etc. The phone has been launched in two colours — Mineral Blue and Mystic Purple. Vivo has not listed the price of the Y17 yet, but it is expected to cost Rs 16,990. At that price point, the Y17 would compete with Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A30, and Galaxy M30.
