The total solar eclipse that took place on Monday and was visible in US, Mexico, Canada and other parts of North America, stunned people as the sky turned black while the Moon covered the Sun. The rare astronomical phenomenon was witnessed by millions of people on the other side of the globe and social media was flooded with videos.

One more clip of the solar eclipse was shared by Southwest Airlines. However, it was not just any footage. A passenger captured the event while flying at 35,000 feet and the spectacle was absolutely breathtaking.

The short clip shared by Southwest Airlines on Instagram showed the passenger capturing the moment when the Moon covered the Sun and the sky turned black in a matter of seconds.

“Once in a lifetime flight. Totally worth it,” read the caption of the post.

Since being shared online, the video has amassed over one lakh views. Instagram users were amazed to watch the spectacle as well.

“Amazing. I would have loved to have been on one of those flights,” one user wrote. Another user commented, “Absolutely would do this.”

“I was on a Southwest flight the last time there was an eclipse! Such a cool experience,” a third user remarked.

A fourth user added, “Absolutely worth it.”

Southwest Airlines also shared a slew of pictures of the solar eclipse. All the passengers were also provided with special solar eclipse glasses.

Meanwhile, astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) also got to witness the solar eclipse. “The windows on the cupola, the orbital outpost’s “window to the world,” were open and NASA Flight Engineers Matthew Dominick and Jeanette Epps were inside photographing and videotaping the Moon’s shadow on Earth, or umbra, beneath them,” NASA said.
