Two men broke into a parked BMW and stole Rs 13 lakh in cash that had been kept inside the luxury vehicle. A police case has been registered in connection with the theft that took place in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20.

Surveillance cameras captured the robbery as it occurred in broad daylight. The footage shows one man surreptitiously scanning the area while his accomplice waits on a motorcycle. The man smashes the window of the BMW vehicle, reaches in and takes out a bag containing the cash. The two thieves then escape on the motorcycle.

Several people stand a short distance away from the car, oblivious to the crime happening in close vicinity.

“Rs 13 lakhs stolen from a parked car in Bengaluru on 20th October; case registered, say police,” news agency ANI tweeted while sharing CCTV footage of the theft.

Both the thieves wore masks, while the one waiting on the motorcycle also wore a helmet. Their identity is yet to be ascertained.

“Our preliminary investigation so far has suggested that the two men involved in the theft were from Tamil Nadu. A thorough probe is under way to identify the men and nab them,” a senior police officer told PTI.

Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi added that a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and an investigation is on.
