An Indian-origin family was found dead in their $2 million California mansion in an apparent murder-suicide. San Mateo Police is investigating the deaths of Anand Sujith Henry, his wife Alice Priyanka Benziger and their four-year-old twin boys.

Henry, a former Google and Meta employee, shot his wife before turning the pistol on himself, sources told KTVU. The couple was found dead in a bathroom in their house on Monday morning after the police was called in for a welfare check.

Their two sons were found dead in one of the mansion’s five bedrooms. Police have not revealed the cause of their death, but news reports suggest they were likely smothered, strangled or given a lethal overdose as no signs of trauma were found on their bodies.

Here is what we know so far about the Indian-origin couple and their deaths:

Anand Sujith Henry, 42, and his wife Alice Priyanka, 40, were found dead of gunshot wounds in their $2 million California home on Monday, February 12.

A 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were also found in the bathroom. The couple’s two sons, aged four, were found dead in a different room without gunshot wounds.

Anand Henry and his wife Alice, a data scientist, were originally from Kerala but had been living in the United States for the last nine years.

According to Henry’s LinkedIn profile, he worked as a Software Engineering Manager at Google for more than seven years. He joined Meta in February 2022 before leaving in June 2023 to launch Logits. Although he is listed as the co-founder of Logits, details about the start-up are scant.

Police were called for a welfare check on Monday after a grandmother of the children said she had not been able to contact the family for some time.

Police are still looking for a possible motive in what is being called a murder-suicide. “Based on the information we have at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public, as we are confident the person responsible was located within the home,” San Mateo police said in a statement. “This investigation continues as detectives work to gather evidence, speak to witnesses and family members and determine a possible motive.”

Some reports also suggest that Anand had filed for a divorce in 2016 but did not go ahead with it.
