Arijit Singh's new song from Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies touches emotional chords

Arijit Singh has sung for Kiran Rao's sophomore Laapataa Ladies, which will release in theatres on March 1.

After Dhobi Ghat, Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao is back with another directorial after a long gap of 14 years with Laapataa Ladies. Recently, the makers created a buzz with the release of the first song from the film, in Sukhwinder Singh’s voice, DoubtWa , and earlier today, the second song Sajni, was released. Written by Prashant Pandey, this romantic, emotional song has been composed by Ram Sampath and sung by Arijit Singh.

Released ahead of the Valentine’s Day and the ongoing Valentine Week, this song seems to be the perfect one for the season with lyrics, ‘O sajni re, Kaise katey din raat, Kaise ho tujhse baat, Teri yaad stave re’. The melodious number, Sajni, celebrates love and the poignant feelings of lovers missing each other in a heart-touching, emotional way. Arijit Singh often called the king of romantic songs portrays the beautiful feelings through the rendition in his unique way.

Soon after its release, netizens began to react to the melodious track with comments like, ‘Kya song hai kya aawaz hai guru ji’ and ‘Valentine's Special by King Arijit Singh’ while another said, ‘Arijit Singh's voice gives goosebumps!!, and another said,  ‘One More Classic, Heart Touching’, while another fan commented, ‘Mesmerizing voice of Arijit sir takes this amazing lyrics to another level’.

Laapataa Ladies has a promising cast and debutants like Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav along with seasoned Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan.

Kiran Rao reportedly said that she picked Ravi over Aamir Khan because Aamir would bring a star baggage to the character. The film, produced by Jio Studios, has been made by Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, and is based on a script by Biplab Goswami while the screenplay and the dialogue for the film are written by Sneha Desai and additional dialogues by Divyanidhi Sharma.

The film is slated to be released in theatres on March 1, 2024.
