In one the biggest escalation in recent times, Israel on Saturday morning declared a “state of readiness for war” amid a fierce rocket attack from the Gaza Strip and infiltration into its southern area. Islamic faction Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, claimed it had launched 5,000 rockets at Israel in an early morning barrage called ‘Operation al-Aqsa Flood’.
At least six people have been killed and 200 injured in the attacks, the Times of Israel reported.
Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, who recently met the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, said he was saddened by the unprecedented turn of events. “Sorry to see what’s happening in Israel. I hope there can be peace one day,” he wrote on his microblogging platform X.

In his first public statement after the attack, Israel PM Netanyahu said the country is at war. Citizens of Israel, we are at war. And we will win,” he said. “The enemy will pay a price like they have never known before,” Netanyahu added.
